Attorney Makayla D. Gilchrist is a native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and a 2013 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School. Attorney Gilchrist focuses her practice of law in Criminal Defense (including felonies, misdemeanors, summary citations, and traffic citations), Family Law (including divorce, custody, support, adoptions, and termination of parental rights), Civil Litigation, Landlord/Tenant matters, and Small Business Formation. Attorney Gilchrist operates primarily out of the firm’s York office.
Attorney Gilchrist earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Psychology and a career concentration in Family, Children and Youth from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 2017. Attorney Gilchrist earned her Juris Doctor from Widener University Commonwealth Law School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 2020. During law school, Attorney Gilchrist worked as a legal intern for a solo practitioner, and also worked as a certified legal intern at Central Pennsylvania Law Clinics. While working as a certified legal intern, she managed clients’ cases in the areas of unemployment law, family law, consumer law, and estate planning.
Attorney Gilchrist joined the legal team of Mooney Law as a law clerk in 2019 while completing her final year of law school. During her time as a law clerk, she conducted research and helped draft numerous legal documents and pleadings for the firm’s attorneys. Upon graduation, Attorney Gilchrist continued her work with Mooney Law as a paralegal for Attorney Ziegler while studying for the Pennsylvania Bar Examination. As a paralegal, she continued to conduct research and draft pleadings while also gaining invaluable first-hand experience dealing directly with clients and assisting in managing their cases.
Attorney Gilchrist is excited to start her professional legal career as an attorney with Mooney Law. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
