Another Amazon employee has been killed in Central Pennsylvania. Mooney Law represents the family of the employee who died as a result of a tragic workplace accident at the company’s Carlisle distribution center.  Our firm has filed a Fatal Petition in Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation on behalf of the young man’s mother.
The horrific workplace accident occurred on August 1, 2022. Alex Carrillo was on a pit lift 40 feet in the air performing his assigned job duties when another fork lift operated by an employee who was employed for just two weeks hit his lift, causing the lift to fall over and inflicting fatal injuries. Alex was rushed to Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital where he died on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from a traumatic brain injury.
Alex was just 22 years old and had worked for Amazon since 2019. His workplace accident death is the second death since 2017 at the Carlisle distribution center. It is also another tragic situation that just adds to ongoing allegations in workplace safety at Amazon.com facilities that has led to a federal investigation into Amazon.com. Mooney Law has represented many Amazon employees in workers’ compensation. Many of those clients we represented in the past suffered injuries that were simply avoidable.   These fatal claims are so very difficult and heartbreaking. Let’s hope that the Federal investigation leads to transparency, significant safety changes, and accountability.
